Boreal Blizzard is a large-fruited honeyberry variety developed at the University of Saskatchewan, known for its exceptional berry size and rich flavor. The elongated, powder-blue berries are noticeably larger than most honeyberries and have a sweet, mild taste with hints of blueberry and raspberry. Fruit ripens in early summer and is excellent for fresh eating, baking, or preserves.
This deciduous shrub grows about 5 to 6 feet tall and wide with an upright, slightly spreading habit. It is extremely cold-hardy and thrives in northern climates where many other fruiting plants struggle. Boreal Blizzard requires another compatible honeyberry variety for pollination, such as Boreal Beauty or Boreal Beast, to produce the best yields.
