Brown Sedge (Carex petriei) is a lovely little number whose foliage shines with shades of bronze and coppers. If given the right conditions, it has even been known to glimmer with pinkish hues. As with most sedges, Carex petriei is highly versatile and can withstand numerous conditions. But it will thrive best when planted in well-drained soil that isn't allowed to dry out for too long, making it a perfect accent plant for the nearby rock or container garden. Or, plant in mass as a groundcover or easy to care-for turf alternative.
