Point Reyes Ceanothus, Ceanothus gloriosus, is a mounding evergreen with clusters of showy, blue-lilac flowers in summer. Due to its spreading habit, it is often used as a shrubby groundcover in large beds. It will retain its holly-like leaves all season and makes a flawless border, privacy screen or transitional specimen between formal gardens and naturalized areas. Very versatile in nature, and native to the North American West, it only requires full to partial sun, occasional watering in very hot, arid places and little else. It can be used in a wide variety of ways in the landscape and will easily tolerate coastal conditions.
