Chicago Hardy Fig

Quantity must be 1 or more

Chicago Hardy Fig is a cold-tolerant fig variety prized for its sweet, richly flavored fruit and dependable performance in cooler climates. It produces medium-sized, mahogany-purple figs with a deep strawberry-red interior strawberry, ripening in late summer through early fall. Has sweet, berry-like flavor, with hints of cherry, raspberry and blueberry. The fruit is excellent for fresh eating, drying, or preserves.

This deciduous shrub can be grown as a large bush or small tree, typically reaching 10 to 15 feet tall in warmer zones, but often kept smaller in colder areas where it may die back and regrow from the roots. Despite this, it reliably fruits on new growth, making it well-suited to USDA Zones 6–10 with winter protection in colder regions.

Chicago Hardy prefers full sun and well-drained soil, and once established, it is drought-tolerant and low maintenance. It can be grown in the ground or in containers and is self-pollinating, requiring no other fig for fruit production.
