Bloody Cranesbill, Geranium sanguineum, boasts brilliant magenta flowers over a long spring season. Some dead heading or cutting back of spent flowers can extend blooming. Don't be fooled by its somewhat morose common name. Bloody Cranesbill is a lovely and easy to grow Geranium that can be used nearly anywhere in the landscape. Its well defined foliage offers textural interest and makes the biggest statement when planted in mass. Consider using as part of a lush border for a woodland garden. It also lends itself well as a rock garden plant or groundcover. When placed in containers, it will trail nicely.
