If you love poppies for their papery impressionist whimsy and color palette, then you've found your next favorite flower. We love Geum as an herbaceous perennial. They come in various colors & we are longing to grow them all.
Bloody Mary Geum is poppy red. The flowers sit upon long slender stems that rise out of a leafy green mound at the base. Cut back stems at the base after bloom are done to promote continuous flowering.
Geum's mound eventually spreads about 12-18 inches while the flowers can reach 24 inches. They say it's deer resistant, but our resident deer ate it up the first night! Geum is easy to grow and the perfect companion for your flower border, cottage garden or would be so lovely paired with ornamental grasses.
