Rock Soapwort, Saponaria ocymoides, is a trailing evergreen that can be used nearly anywhere in the garden where you need a splash of color. Beautiful pink blooms arise in late spring spilling over a retaining wall or along the border of a path. Planted in mass, it will provide a low maintenance ground-cover that requires little water after roots establish. To keep Rock Soapwort looking its best simply cut back after it has bloomed to prevent it from getting leggy. This could help it provide another flush of blooms later in the season as well.
