Golden Japanese Stonecrop, Sedum makinoi 'Ogon', is the succulent to use for a partly shady garden. Chartreuse foliage on pink stems is intricate and lively in the landscape. Conditions that are very cool will call for more sun. In hotter climates, Golden Japanese Stonecrop will do well with a break from afternoon sun. 'Ogon' has a spreading habit and makes a lovely ground cover or can be planted as a terraced edging to trail elegantly over the side. This plant will naturalize and look nice as a border to a woodland garden as long as the soil doesn't get too wet.
